Polska cz.1 - torba

Byc moze powolutku dojrzewam do powrotu...?

Caly pobyt w Polsce byl cudowny. Podroz okazala sie o wiele mniej meczaca, niz oczekiwalam. Przynajmniej w duzej grupie, zawsze to razniej.

Niestety, wrocila z pustymi rekami i poprosila, zebym wrocila pozniej, gdy bedzie kolega, ktory podobno bylby w stanie pomoc. Na szczescie nasza rozmowe uslyszala druga ekspedientka, chyba wyzszego stopnia (hehe). Poprosila o dokladniejszy opis i znalazla torbe, aczkolwiek w innym kolorze: zoltym! Do czego ja bym takiego pisklaka zalozyla.

Just a quick post as Im sitting in an internet cafe and really should be going now.

We had a great Christmas with all the family and all the 12 dishes (I will post pictures when we'll get back home). We had even better New Years Eve: big party with Adam and Agnieszka (my cousin and his wife) and their friends. I had a wonderful time, it was trully magnificent way to start the new year. Hope you all had an equally good time!

And now back to Prague and work and normal life.

Discoveries

Some time ago I started going to the gym, to spinning. I noticed that when I'm going back people look at me funny, especially at the metro station by the gym. I was wondering why but I couldn't figure it out. I always change my clothes, I don't think I smell so much... so why? And on Tuesday I discovered. After spinning I went to the bathroom and I looked at myself in the morrow. I scared myself! I looked terrible: weird colors at my face, kind of white but red at the same time, very dark eyes and around (partly because that day I had dark make-up)... overall, I looked terrible! Now I'm not surprised when people stare at me.

The second thing I noticed is that how hard I work out depends on the music a lot. Before, when I was going just from time to time, I just thought it's because I'm in a bad shape. But this week I was going every day and yesterday I had the best prove. I was going not so fast and not so hard, and still I felt tired. But when they played Rammstein I got a extra powers suddenly! It was great!

RPG Superstar round 3

Robi made it to the next round! He is in top 16!!! I'm so proud!
To see his name click here.

So now, he is going to create a villain. And an initial idea was mine ! :) But I'm not telling anything until he publishes it. This also means that I will be without boyfriend for a week. If he had an office or a basement, I wouldn't see him at all. At least we have one room being living room, bedroom and office so I will still see him. And maybe we will even have some dinners together :) But honestly, it doesn't matter, it's just a week and this contest is great and I'm so happy that Robi has an opportunity to show his talents.

So, vote for him! All of you!!! It's very easy to register and you can vote!!! For Robi!!!

Grand night out

I need to write something more. Day heavy on posts, but for those who complained about the silence, should be satisfied.
So yesterday I was out. Narcis' good-bye party. I will miss him a lot, he is a great guy but it's very possible that I will not see him again. He went back to Romania. It was too difficult for his family to live here so they decided to go back.
OK, so I was out. But I came back before midnight, which is very early for me. Today is Glossa's Xmas party so Prince is out. He didn't really want to go, he was complaining and so on. When I said that he should be out for at least 2 hours 'cause I want to watch a movie, he told me he will be back when he wants and so on. So I was under an impression he will be back between 8 and 9. It's almost 11 now and he is not at home! I'm shocked :)
I hope he is having a good time.

Cesky Krumlov

A while ago I promised to post some pics from our memorable trip to Cesky Krumlov. Here they are.

First a few of a most charming place I discovered wondering around alone, because Prince felt sick and decided to stay in the hotel.

And the ones below are taken a day before.

At the top of the castle tower.
Right before the big moment:

Right after (with the ring on the hand visible on the picture):

And together (Prince still looks a bit nervous):

Even our shadows are in love:

RPG Superstar

I guess Prince will not post anything so I have to post on his behalf. He is participating in the contest for RPG Superstar organized by Paizo and past the first stage. He was chosen as one of 32 people (out of over 800) to create the country. I am very proud of him. His writing is great and he is doing something he actually enjoys (in opposite to his job and most other things). His country seems to be one of the best so I am pretty sure he will get into the next round (top 16). He is so awesome.
So if someone wants to support Prince, go to the site, log in and vote for Iskandia. It is a very cool place. I love it. (And I have no idea about D&D all of that stuff, but I like fantasy and Iskandria is a great concept.)

Annoying

I'm still in the office. On the call. It started late, at 5.00pm, but was scheduled for an hour. It's 7pm now and we are all wondering when the hell will this guy finish?? It's not even interesting, the way he is speaking - no intonation, just bla bla bla.... I wanted to go to spinning! It started 15 minutes ago! Again, I will not go! Last week I was afraid of getting sick but now I feel fine. But no... And yesterday I had a French lesson. ...

IT'S DONE :)))

Now, I'm going home.

Przewlekle chora: starosc

As you know, last week was my birthday. I'm 26 now. And I think my body decided to prove me that I'm old. First, I had a bad cold. I stayed home for 3 days. Over the weekend I started to feel better. Not perfect, mind you, just enough to go to work. Everything is great, I don't have fever any more, my nose is running significantly less than it was last week. Except that now, I am getting annoying headaches every day. Not only. On Monday night I couldn't fall asleep. Nothing special, you will say. But I never have problems with falling asleep and I can sleep over almost everything. That night I was just laying there, my brain working like a computer with a new processor and really good memory card! After an hour I got up and read some. It took me 3 hours to fall asleep and the next day at work I wasn't able to do anything, I was so tired. But it happens sometimes, I thought. So the last night, I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible headache and couldn't fall asleep. I took a pain killer and after some time went back to sleep. Then I woke up again with my stomach going all funky. After another half and hour I went back to sleep. So in the morning I stayed in bed longer. But I still could not eat anything, so far only a banana and a yogurt stayed in my belly successfully.
I am not that old!!! It seems that all the health problems I didn't get in the past years are coming to me now. I want to be young again :D

Time to go home

I signed in this morning, right after my morning coffee (around 10am) going to post something. I had nothing specific in mind, life is boring (nothing happening at work, Prince is sick, so we can't do anything after either). And now it's time to go home and I still haven't posted anything. I was actually going to close the window... and the computer and go home. Oh, first shopping - with a huuuuge list 'cause Prince shouldn't go outside. So I decide I will write at least this.
Stupid post, I know. But at least you know I'm still alive.

Sicko

We watched Sicko by Michael Moore yesterday. Interesting movie, but of course people complain everywhere about their health care system. I cannot say that the Polish one is better, although I think that the Czech one is. It's probably offending for some of you to read this, but I am very satisfied with the service level I am getting here, especially with preventive care. But I that's not the point. The point is that I do pay for doctor's visits or for any special treatment. If I'd suddenly got some serious illness or had an accident, I wouldn't have to worry about money, because my insurance will cover it. But this is not the point, it's not what I wanted to write about.

The main thing, I cannot understand about America is the ideology of "the American dream" and individualism so extreme that only the individual. OK, you believe that every hard working person can live "the American dream" and earn millions of dollars. Somehow, I do not think it is possible. I guess I know too many people who could not live under pressure of success. I don't think I would like it, because for me success in life is something different than big bank account, something you cannot measure. But I am under the impression that it is extremely hard in the US for people who think similar, or who were simply unlucky. Because if you don't have money, no one will support you. And here is the difference.
In most European countries, the idea is that people should support each other and help the ones in trouble. You pay according to your means and get according to your needs. And everybody is happy. (I know, it's not that simple and every system has it's problems, but in my opinion it's still better than dumping sick people on the streets, 'cause they are not able to pay their medical bills.)

I know that this is again a post "how I don't like America". It is not my aim. Being with Prince makes me think about some things we in Europe take for granted. It makes me happy that I live in a system which cares about the people, where the government is for people, not the other way.

I have nothing against Americans, I loved the time I spend in the US, I think it's beautiful country with great people. It's just different. In some ways it's better, in some it's worse. Maybe I am trying to convince myself and Prince that Europe is better. But no, I know it's better :D (It's a joke.) It's just different.

A year older

GO MARTA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY! GO MARTA!

That was the first thing I heard this morning and it was very sweet. Generally, the whole day is cool except I'm sick. But at least I'm working from home (meaning: checking email every half an hour, 'cause there is nothing to do).

Oh, you Americans

We saw "Who killed the electric car" yesterday. Very interesting movie, I didn't know it was technically possible. It's nice it is. I wish it would be still real.
But I don't want to write about cars, but about Americans. So they are talking about consumers not liking the car. The reason:
"For most Americans when we talk about sensitive energy policy, what most Americans hear: you're gonna make me drive a small car, you're gonna make me keep my house cold and essentially you're gonna make me live like European."

BTW Iceland is using hydrogen powered buses - for those who saw the movie, it is actually possible.

Sad, sad day

This is a always a hard time of the year for me. First of all, the fall is already in its full, it's dark and grey. Second of all, the All Saints Day is tomorrow and I always think about all the people who left us. Wyborcza always publishes a list of famous people who died in the past year and it makes me sad, that all those great people are not here any more. All the war heroes, who fought for our independence, great actors and writers... This was in my eyes the best generation, the one of my grandparents.
Today is also sad in different respect. Someone left us, my company. Someone I really liked and who was fun. I know it may sound silly especially compared with the above paragraph. But I don't care. I will miss this person. We were not even good friends, that's probably even worse, because if we were, we would probably go out sometimes together. And I doubt we ever see each other. And there are so many people leaving my company... It's just sad. We are loosing good people but the management is not willing to realize it, to think about the reasons and to find a solutions. And they are usually so good with finding mistakes, causes and solutions. Except that they only think about processes and not real people. I don't think I fit in this, I am after all in "the management" (even though I have no power and no possibility to change things). Oh, this corporate world... I hate it.

My sister's brain

Yesterday was a very very good day. Not at work, not at home, not in Prague. In far away Poland.

My sister has been having those terrible headaches for the past few weeks and no pain killer would help. On Monday she had a CAT scan and got the results yesterday. She promised to send me a text after she got the results but forgot so I texted her in the evening. This is the answer I got:
" They did not find anything. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of my brains (since when does she have more than one??) but only a piece of paper with the results."

She is feeling better. I'm very happy. I was very scared that something bad may happened.

Take me where I want to go

I'm sorry for not writing for such a long time. I was sick a bit last week and stayed at home and when I came back to work, I was quite busy. So here you go, update for the last two weeks.
1. Poker night last Friday: we had a lot of fun, Prince won a lot (well, compared to what we played for - 100kc each, about 5$, so he won 20$). I end us even, which is good considering the state of my mind at the end of a game, around 2 am :) I tent to bet higher later in the night... and loose more. I guess I should not drink if I want to win, but then it wouldn't be such fun. At least this time I saw my card till the end :)))
2. Meeting with Jan and Vladka: a week ago Jan (known from posting comments as Bolek) visited Prague so we met for some beers. It was great seeing him! He did not change too much, with his bitter but funny comments :)
3. Rugby Saturday evening both weekend: it was a lot of fun. The first game England won with France which made me very happy. Unfortunately, they lost the final against South Africa, but I do not mind South Africa winning (and I mind France - I became very anti French because of people at work).
4. Elections in Poland on Sunday: I voted in the embassy. Platforma Obywatelska (Civil Platform) won! I am extremely happy. Finally, the end of right wing conservative rule! It was too much for me. Surprisingly, the turnout was very high: almost 55%, the highest since the end of communism. Hopefully, people realized that their vote is important and that if you don't vote, you may end up with two twin ducks ruling the country :) (For those not in the loop of Polish politics: the president and the ex-prime minister are twins and their surname is "Duck-like"). I hope that the new government will change something, especially economically. They have huge potential in my opinion, we will see how they will use it.
5. Discussion about the future cont.: yesterday we spend some time talking about the future, moving to Scotland, the wedding and so on. We decided what we want to do, but then Prince was looking into visas and work permit for Scotland and it did not sound optimistic. Now, we are thinking he might have to go back to school (which I think he might like and going into Academia is his best bet, but he does not fully agrees). The problem with that is the tuition fees - extremely high.
If we will not make it to Scotland, I am not sure about anything. Prince does not want to stay here for too much longer (I think a year is maximum), there is no more English speaking countries in Europe except for UK and Ireland. Maybe we should reconsider moving to the US, but none of us particularly wants that for certain reasons (two most important for me: not being able to see my family as often as I would like; the benefits I am used to does not exist there, for example free health care or maternity leave or 25 vacation days ... a lot of things like this that we, Europeans are used to).
6. Work: it's getting worse. We are currently doing performance reviews and I got frustrated because they didn't let me promote a person who is doing a great job. Also, I am going to look for another position within the company and my manager is going to support it. Which on the one hand is very good, because I am tired of what I'm doing now and I don't really want to manage people; on the other hand I am disappointed that I didn't manage to do very well. It's not only my fault, but still, I could have been better. Oh, well. Now, I'm concentrating on moving somewhere, learn something new, work with different people and more with clients.

Memory

Yesterday before falling asleep I was thinking about writing something very important on the blog. Of course, as usual with genius ideas that I have at night, I forgot it in the morning. But there is something funny that happened yesterday.
I started therapy. Yesterday I had my second meeting, the doctor did some tests. It was generally fun. One of the things she checked was my memory and she said I have an excellent memory. At night, already in bed, we were talking about it and I proudly told Prince how good my memory is. He asked: Did you remember about you dad's birthday three days ago? Yes, of course! And then I realized that it was my sister birthday! And I forgot about it! I quickly texted her, right before midnight!
So that's how good my memory is :)

If I remember what was so important, I will post again :) But it is probably lost! I think I would be globally known genius if I remembered all the ideas I have before falling asleep.

I want to go home

I don't really have anything to write about, but I still will. So prepare for a silly post without any greater importance.
We spend the weekend in the usual way: slept most of it :) No, it's not really true, but we took naps both days which is not usual for me. Friday I worked until 7.30pm so I was dead tired when I got finally home and we just watched TV. Saturday we went to Ikea, both some Swedish delicacies (glog, cheese and bread, all mniam mniam), tones of candles and other stuff that we always buy at Ikea even though we shouldn't. Nothing really important. And a pillow for Prince. I hope he will enjoy it.
We were supposed to watch rugby, go for dinner and a concert after shopping but Ade got too hammered the night before and when I called him at 3pm I woke him up. So we just went home, took a nap, went grocery shopping and watched Buffy.
On Sunday I went to Church and verified that we can get married in a Catholic church but the bishop would have to give me permission. Basically the priest did not see any problems with anything, not even the language. One problem solved (I don't mean that we decided that we will get married in Prague but at least we know it is possible.) And then we ate lunch, watched Buffy (we have to give the DVDs back at some point - sorry Megan that it's taking us so long, but we're really trying) and took a nap :) Prince had a lot of "me time" and by the evening he was a bit suspicious why I'm not complaining. Well, I just wanted to read my book in bed - the fall came and I'm all lazy and not wanting to go out of bed. At least for some time until I get used to it and the Prince will have to do stuff with me again :)
In the evening we went to see rugby: Scotland vs Argentina. I have to say that Scotland played much better than I expected especially at the end but they still lost (19:11). It was a good game.

Today I made a first step to move to Scotland. It sounds very serious, but what I really did, is put my CV on line on Scottish website. We will see if there are anyone interested, just to get an idea. Also, we could theoretically move any time. Prince does not know about it yet. He will find out soon.

I have not done any work today! Terrible, I know, but it's Monday.....

Yet another problem

We started talking about the wedding and stuff. We shouldn't have because soon we found a first problem: should we pay for the transportation of the guests to wherever we will get married. I know that it's not done in the US but in my family that is the custom (usually it's about 20km, not thousand). Of course we did not reach any conclusion but I decided I have to call my mum and ask her. The result of the conversation was that she told me that if we get married anywhere abroad my family would not come (except for the 3 of them). Now I'm upset. It's going to be even more difficult than I expected!

And the winner is...

Today I am going to surprise you with two posts :) Including one in English for all of you who does not speak Polish :) And actually I have something to write about.

The story starts sadly: one of senior managers in my company had a serious accident this summer. He was on holidays in Italy, jumped to the swimming pool and broke his spine. He was in comma for a long time, now he is getting better, but he still does not move his legs and is connected to all sorts of medical equipment. As it happens on such occasions, people decided to collect money for him and his family (he has a very young son, just over a year old). To make it more interesting, it was decided that we will organize a raffle. So today was the final day and the prices were given away. And I won! Not the iPod that I really wanted but something quite interesting, although much less healthy. Those are my prises:

Absolut Bling-Bling Vodka - Special Edition
Jose Cuervo Classico Tequila
2 bottles Red wine (Château neuf du pape 1996)
Turkish delight from Turkey

I am going to take it home and enjoy during Christmas with my family. Well, except for the wine probably. We will drink it with Prince, at least one bottle.

Nieoczekiwani czytelnicy

Poznalam go w Swieta. OK, kazdy czasem potrzebuje zaszalec. Ale tak... Wchodzimy, siadamy w salonie, gadka szmatka, a Mam-Kryzys-Wieku-Sredniego nie daje mi odetchnac. Tysiac pytan. Mily, sympatyczny i w ogole, ale do przesady Amerykanski. I taki przytlaczajacy.

Announcement

I am the happiest person in the world. Something wonderful happened: WE GOT ENGAGED!!!

We went for the weekend to Cesky Krumlov, beautiful medieval town in Southern Bohemia. Friday was a public holiday here so we went in the morning, we stayed in a pension that used to be a part of city wall, it was build in 1502. Cool. Saturday was beautiful weather, unfortunately Prince was not feeling too well, so in the morning I went alone for a walk, but in the afternoon we took a tour of the castle. He really wanted to go to the tower, even though we were there a year ago with his Dad. But he really wanted so we went up. It was late afternoon, sunny and warm and beautiful. We went to the corner with the city behind us and he knelt... I wasn't sure what is he doing, I was so surprised. I don't quite remember what he said but it was beautiful. And when he opened the box with the ring, I knew that he is proposing. Of course I said yes. (When I thought about it later, I realized I should say something like 'I will'. I hope it still counts.) We stayed at the tower for some time. It was the best moments of my life. I never felt so happy and so much in love. And I know I want to spend my life with him.

Now, we have a lot of things to talk about and to plan. Of course, it can't be too easy with us: we have totally different expectations (Scottish castle vs church, preferably catholic). But we will find a compromise. And we will be happy always as we are now.
I zyli dlugo i szczesliwie....

Only 2 days left

I promise I will write something later today. Tibor is out of office and I'm quite busy. But it's good busy - just doing my job without any big disasters. I like it. It's better than being bored. And the time passes fast, which means that in 2 days we're going to Cesky Krumlov! I can't wait. It will be fun. I hope it won't be raining but even if. We're going to have a romantic weekend :) And what better place can there be for a romantic weekend than Cesky Krumlov?

Is there anything else going on...? We're having a wave of people giving their resignations at work (end of the month). I wonder who will be next. Actually, I am pretty sure I know two others. I would probably start looking for something else by now but we are talking about moving to Scotland so it doesn't really make sense to change the job for half a year or a year. Especially that nobody will pay me as well as here (I am the manager after all). And it's better to have more experience in one company than to change too many times.

OK, need to go for my English class.

Another day in the corporate world

I'm sorry for rare updates but I've been quite busy recently. Work is being very stressful. They ask me to do something but do not make it possible, for example by not giving me data without which I cannot do anything. And yesterday I thought I will kill Tibor. He just doesn't care so much! The problem is that I am responsible for him and for his work. I am the one who gets screamed at (well, didn't happen in this case luckily). Today is better and the next week he is off, so we'll be here only with Lucy. It will be fun. I can relay on her. (BTW L and T are Lucy and Tobor, the two people on my team).
Except for that, nothing new is going on. We went out Tuesday to watch rugby. Scotland won 42:0 with Romania! WOW!!!!
Yesterday, I went out with work, as usual to say goodbye to someone. This time it was a Polish girl who was here in Prague just temporarily until she received her work permit in France. She just got it and is moving to Paris.
And that's all. I'm going to go early to bed tonight. Before maybe watch Buffy. And do nothing except reading.

Rano

No i w rezultacie tego wszystkiego jestem zmeczona.

Jedna z tych pan odpowiada:
"- To wam powiem: oni byli kiedyś poglądowo bardzo czerwoni, ten Izaak Halber i ona.
- A to, że Żydzi?
- Kogo to tam teraz obchodzi, kto był Żydem przed wojną?"

Woodstock - fotki

Wesele

Przynajmniej pare zdjec Wam pokaze.

Mloda para przed kosciolem

Ach, ta milosc

Mart (tak mnie nazwala moja partnerka)

Ja, Kamil (nowo odkryty kuzyn, bo juz z mlodszego pokolenia), Monika i Artur, Mloda, Tomek, czyli nasza szczesliwa rodzinka.

A tutaj moja urocza partnerka z wesela. Niestety, zachowala sie nikczemnie i bawila sie z jakimis mezczyznami zostawiajac swojego Marta na pastwe losu (a dokladniej kuzynow i nalewek).

Bolalo, nadal boli, musze sie z nimi policzyc nastepnym razem. Macie jakis pomysl jak sie odplacic?

Hi back

I came back to Prague safely. The morning was quite ok but now I'm falling asleep in front of my computer. I'm very tired after the ride (it took14 hours total). I'll post some more about the wedding and Poland tomorrow, when I will be alive again.

Mam tu sprawy do zalatwienia, problemy do rozwiazania.... zycie.

The fall is comming

Oh well, the fall came to Prague. Today is the first autumn day: it's grey and rainy and cold.... life sucks today. I feel tired and kind of sad but without any reason. I'm also crazy cold - I didn't expect it to be so cold so I'm wearing my white summer pants, white T-shirt and sandals. Fortunately, I took a sweater. But it's still crazy cold!

Except for that, I moved yesterday. My new room is very nice, big and smacked in the middle of Vinohrady, which is extremely convenient for meeting people. Except that my life is centered around Andel and Karlovo Namesti. But it's still ok. I met Ade yesterday for dinner and it was perfect: less than 5 minute walk. And it's also around 5 minutes walk to Prince. Yes, we did not break up. We're still together. But we are going to have a "romantic" moth with dates and stuff. And more time to think. Keep you fingers crossed that it works!

The place is very nice and quite big. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 kind of connected but kind of separate. I sleep in one of them. There is a kitchen with a couch and a balcony! The balcony is small but it doesn't matter - it's a balcony! There are 2 guys living there: Czech and American. They seem nice. We will see, I'm not planning to spend too much time there and have time to become friend but who knows.

I should go back to work, but to be honest, I don't have anything to do. My team got smaller again: we're only 3 me, L. and T. So L. is also on the Internet and T. is working. It's good for him - he is normally the lazy and slow one. He should learn more responsibility :) So that I can chill out!

My dad is amazing! I'm going to Poland this weekend for the wedding. I'm going by bus to Warszawa. This time I didn't want to be a burden so I told my dad that there is no need to come and pick me. I also spoke with Kris who promised to drive me home. So it's all set up. Even if something happens and Kris cannot come, there are tones of trains. I explained this to my dad. But he cannot believe me. Every other day he asks me if I am sure, if I will be ok, because he really can come to pick me up. It's very nice but I am a big girl and can handle 160km. And I really don't want him to come always - he would have to get up very early and it's quite tiring especially for him. So we will see how I will get home. The last time I planned to go by train, my bus had problems, it was a few hours delayed and my dad came to Warszawa. Hopefully this time everything will be ok.

Znowu mam nadzieje.

Monday's update

I initiated such a nice discussion after my last post :) I apologize for my Czech, I hope you'll understand.
Rob is coming back this afternoon. I'm looking forward as much as I am afraid. Keep your fingers crossed.
The weekend was quite nice. On Friday we were going to go to a movie party but at the end we (me and Ade) just stayed in his local and talked. It was very nice, he is a very intelligent guy.
Saturday David organized a tournament in ...hmmm forgot how it is called :))) Table football maybe (football = soccer). It was a lot of fun. He has a garden so we were outside, grilled some delicacies. Mniam mniam.
And Sunday was similar to the last one: I stayed at home, cleaned it all again. Now it's ready for Rob. It's shinning! I cooked something nice for dinner, then I realized he does not like cooked veggies. Oh well, I love it. I can eat it all (it would take me at least a week but I would).
Now, it's just waiting.

Wazne rozmowy, wazniejsze decyzje

Short summary in English: I am much better :)))

Humor i nastroj poprawil mi sie o 100%. Po pierwsze ciekawie spedzialam tydzien. We wtorek poszlam na koncert irlandzkiej muzyki z Amerykanka, a ona przyprowadzila Irlandczyka. Aczkolwiek stojac w kolejce po piwo zdarzylo mi sie cos niespodziewanego - spotkalam znajomego! Alesa, bylego chlopaka Lidy, a mojego bylego wspollokatora.

No wiec sie przylaczylam.

Thursday, August 23, 2007

Krotko

Chcialam napisac dzisiaj cos pozytywnego, bo podobno wszyscy sie o mnie martwia (Lida mi nawet napisala, ze sie sie boi, ze popelnie samobojstwo)...... Musze isc, Lida juz na mnie czeka.
Jest ok.

Loneliness as a redemtion

The weekend was awful. For the first time I wanted it to be over to go to work and talk to people. It's not much better today but at least I'm not alone in the apartment. OK, I haven't spend the whole weekend alone in the apartment but it was still very hard.
I joined Ade and some other people on Friday, we had a few drinks at Noel's and then we went to a party by the river, in Zlute Lazne. It was OK. It was nice with the river right there, we were sitting on the pier chatting. I came back home quite late so Saturday was a lazy day. I went to Vysehrad, where I met a friend of a friend. It was nice. I needed to talk to someone. But that was short and I was too tired to join Ade & co. for a boat party that they planned. And yesterday was another lonely day. I went to church and cleaned the kitchen (finally!) but I was done around 4pm. And I had nothing else to do. I didn't want to go to Vysehrad again. It was too hot for skating and too cold for swimming. I wasn't in a mood for any movie either. It was a bad day.
Fortunately today is a new day. Not that it's much better. I'm still depressed. People are going to karaoke but I don't like it and I'm not in a mood for a big party. But Lida and Andrea are in town so maybe I'll go out somewhere. I don't know myself what I want. (That's not new, should get used to it.)
I need to find me some new friends, see some new faces. But when you're not a student any more, it seems extremely difficult.
I'm such an idiot! I need a brain surgery. Or better heart surgery!
This should a good time, a redemption time! But I'm not able to make use of it without someone to share this time with. Which makes no sense because I was supposed to be alone and enjoy it!

Marzenia

To jeszcze jeden tekst ktory uwielbiam.

Cyniczny i bezduszny
Osądzam bez litości
Bez serca i miłości
Miewam nieczyste intencje
Łamię własne zasady
Jestem niekonsekwentny
Drażliwy i nieznośny
Nie potrafię słuchać
A sam bez przerwy gadamJ
ak bym istniał tylko ja
A światem rządził szatan
Chciałbym być zawsze niewinny i prawdziwy
Chciałbym być zawsze pełen wiary i nadziei
Tak jak Bolek i Lolek
Tytus, Romek i Atomek
Dzieci z Bullerbyn
Tomek na tropach yeti
Tak jak król Maciuś pierwszy
Asterix i Obelix
Jak załoga G
MacGyver i Pipi

A ja jestem sam i dobrze sie mam
O sobie tylko śnie!
Nieważne dziewczyny, nieważne przyczyny
Ja prostu kocham się

Moze kiedys sie uda. W kazdym razie najwyzszy czas sprobowac.

Another depressing day

I thought that I should write something but really I don't have anything to write about. After the weekend with Lida, I'm spending evenings watching movies and just chilling at home. I cleaned some yesterday, it was a diseaster area already. Now, the bedroom is nice and clean. I still have to take care of the kitchen but I'll leave it for the weekend. It will take a lot of time. I want to do a big, very detailed cleaning, so I need at least one day for the kitchen. At least I don't have any dirty dishes in the sink (oh, I'm sure you who know me better know how big suprise it is). The reaso: I don't eat at home :)
Maybe tonight I'll go out with Andrea. If she'll come back from Plzeň. I dont want to spend another evening alone in the appartment. IT's depressing.

Sokoleč, les, kočka, pes...

Tak teď jsme u Lidušky doma. Liduška upekla vynikající houstičky. Víno je také vynikající. Trošku jsme se už opily. Zítra očekávám výbornou zábavu. Takže Liduška mi připravila užasný víkend.

Teď Vám něco napíše Liduška:
Hoj!

Dotarlismy tam ok 3ciej, bo jeszcze wstepowalismy do domow, zeby sie przebrac. A do domu wrocilam ok 2 w nocy :) Zaczelismy tylko z j., potem przyszedl niedoszly kierowa z dziewczyna (kierowca to tez kumpel z pracy), a potem dolaczyla Lida i kumpel j.
Zobaczymy...

Przyjaźń, Miłość i Muzyka

Musze konczyc, bo juz najwyzszy czas isc do domu.

To moj ulubiony prezenter, ukasztaltowal moj gust muzyczny w duzym stopniu. Poza tym on nadawal ton Trojce, byl wyznacznikiem jej poziomu razem z Kaczkowskim. A teraz odchodzi.... Gdy o tym mowil, glos mu sie lamal :(

Siedem obciachów architektury

I'm quite busy this week but I have to post this. I found a few minutes today to have a look at the paper I like, Wyborcza. Yes, it's Polish and it is in Polish. So I don't really know why I'm writing in English; it just feels like it. So there is an article "Siedem obciachow architektury" (Seven shames of architecture) with THIS picture. My old church. It is really terrible building. And inside it's not better. It's really hard to pray in this building!

Juz piatek!

Do dupy ten dzien byl. Strasznie duzo ludzi mnie wkurzylo.
Dzisiaj gra Hey. Wlasnie leci Teksanski... klasyka. Dawne czasy sie przypominaja. Nostalgia i tesknota.
Wracajac do tematu, w domu spokojniej. I nawet dostalam kwiatuszki przed wczoraj.

Jarocin

Dzisiaj rano wpadlam na pomysl, zeby posluchac mojej ulubionej Trojeczki on-line. Nawet bez problemu sie tam dostalam i gra mi milutko caly dzien. Niestety, dojechac by mi sie udalo, ale juz z powrotem bylby problem. A juz sie umowilam z Mloda i wszysko.
Trzymajcie kciuki.
A teraz na Tara-Fuki!

Reality better than plans

The plan did not quite work yesterday. I got home before 6, I had bought something delicious (raspberries to make smoothie) but Prince was still there so I couldn't just chill out. I did the dishes. I didn't clean all the clothes. I watched most of the movie (Jasminum), but Prince came back before it was finished. But we had a very nice dinner, I think: chicken with mint, potatoes and tomatoes. And then smoothie as a desert. And some wine. Miam mniam. Even if the plan didn't quite work, it was a very nice evening.
And today I'm going to see Tara Fuki with Lida, Jirka, maybe Ade and Prince. It will be fun. Especially that they are playing on the island - Strelecky Ostrov.

Evening plans

It's kind of a boring day. Nothing happened. I was thinking about going to see a movie (either Inland Empire by David Lynch or czech Vratné lahve) but I changed my mind. Our apartment is a total mess, we haven't had the time to do the dishes for at least 3 days so it's a disaster area. Also, yesterday we went to a concert (after I went to the swimming pool with Lida) and tomorrow I'm also going out, maybe I will convince Prince to go with me. So the only day to clean and just enjoy a calm evening at home is today.

The plan is:
1. go shopping on the way home and get something delicious
2. get home early, before 6 if possible
3. do the dishes as quickly as possible
3. clean all the clothes and other crap lying everywhere
4. cook something delicious
5. watch a good, optimistic movie, probably Jasminum, with dinner and the delicious thing bought earlier

Tomorrow I'll let you know if it worked. It's after 5 already, so I have to get going.

Neuveritelne

Jerry Williams z Little Rocku, Arkansas, získal $14,500 + úhradu nákladů léčení, když byl napaden sousedovým psem beaglem.

I'm sorry that it's only in Czech but it's too long to translate during such a hot day. As I mentioned before, we should all learn new languages :)

Praski piekarnik

I guess you already realized I'm not so busy at work any more as I used to be: I have time to post on my blog every day. That's truth, but it has also negative aspects: we don't have enough work for the team and I need to get rid of some people. I have to decide who and how and when. Difficult.

I'm dying today - it's crazy hot and I went for lunch. It was a big mistake. I should have eaten fruits or yogurt as I planned. I'd feel better. On the other hand I'm going to the swimming pool today with Lida, so I thought that I should eat something normal to have energy to swim. But now I have even less energy than I would without lunch.

I will continue dying for the next 2 hours. I'm leaving early today to meet Lida. And I don't really care. It's too hot to stay here especially without work to make me busy.

Pics

I posted a lot of pictures (from Scotland, Karlovy Vary, Kutna Hora itp): http://strawberryfields.buzznet.com/user/photos/recent/

There is hope

This time in English.

Yesterday was a very bad day for our relationship. I got up in a bad mood and the it screwed up everything because Saturday was OK. Normal. And now normal is good. But yesterday was not normal. We were together but separately. I couldn't feel anything between us, it was like two random people in the same room. It was extremely hard.
In the evening my aunt called me and told me to go for a walk. So I went and it was good. I walked for over 2 hours ad thought a lot. I realized that I am behaving very stupid, not like an adult. That I'm running away from the problems. I do not control my very changeable moods. That I should finally decide what I want. And decide for good.

When I came back from the walk, it was much better, because we talked honestly. Prince agreed that it may be good for us to take some kind of a break and we had an idea that he could go to the US for some time. Especially that he is going for a wedding in August, he could prolong it. He hasn't discussed it with his parents so far, so it's nothing sure but we think it's a good idea. We would have time to think about our relationship without being together (it's very difficult now, because we live together).
We hope that a short time separately will make us realize if we really want to be with each other. And if we both decide that yes, we want to spend the rest of our lives together, we can work on the problems. Otherwise, it makes no sense to put an effort but without commitment.

All right, enough of this. We will solve it. And we will be happy - together or separately.

One more thing: Czech Rep was suddenly moved to Africa... it's crazy hot. Today it's supposed to be 39 degrees! Crazy! I cannot function normally in those conditions, it's terrible!

A wlasciwie anjpierw do Tesco. Bo biegac to sie nie w takiej temperaturze, czlowiek by sie roztopil.

Nowy dzien, stare mysli

Cos sie dziwnego dzisiaj dzieje z tym blogiem. Probuje cos napisac, a sie nie pojawia....

Nic sie od wczoraj nie mienilo, nadal panuje tu depresja, pesymizm i brak nadziei. Moze jutro bedzie lepiej...

Moze powinnam sie najpierw nauczyc byc sama, zeby moc byc z kims. I stad mi sie w glowie przewraca.

Nevermind.... moze jutro bedzie lepiej.

Another boring day

I don't really have anything to write about but I spoke with Marysia today and she told me she is proud of my long posts. So I don't want to disappoint her.
Today is a very nice day. I done nothing! I worked for the first hour and then all the clients were kind of quiet, two team members were taking care of anything there was to do, so I read blogs, visited myspaces of some friends, read newspaper, watch videos (news).... And then I had an English class, I was the only one there for the first 20 minutes, then one other person came so we had a conversation class. It was a lot of fun. Not that I tough so much, I have "conversation classes" every day at home, but it was nice and relaxing. Then I went for a coffee. And here I am, waiting for a conference call, that I will just have to listen. After that we're going to a party: a girl is leaving the company.
I spoke with my parents yesterday. They are all happy about the house. They almost finished everything. The only main thing left are doors, it's supposed to be done the next week I think. I'm so happy for them, that they made it!
I hope this time I will not crush my glasses during the party! Keep your fingers crossed :)

Frustrating job and relaxing 4days weekend

There is so much going on that I don't really have time to post. Work is busy, but it's nice. Except for some incidents. Yesterday I thought I will kill some Americans; we agree to split work based on the regions: we will handle Europe and some specific Asian countries and they - the rest of the world. Seemed great! Except that there was some work to be done for Israel and apparently they thought it's in Europe! Learn some geography, people! US is really not the only country in the world!
So this was one thing. And the other was even worse because I had to explain myself and I looked like an idiot. I won't go into details, it's not worth it, but the reason was the same: not taking into considerations differences between regions. America is really not the center of the world! Regardless of what most Americans think.
So that's that. Quick update on my work. I would love to move on and find something else now, but it doesn't really make sense if we want to move to Scotland. This is apparently another problem...

Prince was all about moving to Scotland before we went there for the holidays. Now, he is finding many many reasons why it will not work out, all the problems that we will have - up to moving our stuff. In my opinion, we should not worry about actual moving right now, but look for a job / studies, find out how big chances of getting a good job do we have and so on... Then we can figure out how to move all of this crap that we collected and how to find apartment and so on.... So I'm a bit frustrated with this as well.

At lease I started to run again, which helps me to get rid of all bad emotions. Spots is really good for mental health.

Now, let's move to the nice and happy aspects of my recent life.

Last week we had two days national holidays Thursday and Friday, so we planned a trip to Czech Paradise with hiking and camping. Actually it was Prince who planned it all. The plan was great, but a little bit too intense. First day, on Thursday morning we took a bus to Mlada Skala. As soon we get of the bus it started puring rain. So we waited for some time till it got better, went to the campsite, got totally wet. And then it stopped, so we put up our tent and went hiking. It rained again during the day, but there were times with sun. So went hiking, we got to the best castle ever Vranov - Pantheon. The castle was carved in the rock, it's really amazing to imagine people living there in XV th century! After that we hiked to Frýdštejn, another castle on and in the rock. From there we went to Drábovna that supposedly had ruins but really, there were only rocks, on which a wooden castle used to stand. It was still really cool. We walked trough Besedické skály, a wonderful rock formations and rock cities. I will try to post some pics soon so that you can see how wonderful it was.
The only problem was that Prince started having problems with his knee in the middle of our hike. It was quite bad. But we hiked the way we planned, although I hoped we could go to the other side of Mlada Skala in the afternoon. We came to town, had some dinner and went to sleep very early. We hoped to get up at 6 but we slept quite late. I slept very well, which was surprising, because usually I cannot get comfortable on the sleeping pad. Ad Prince had problems during the night so he finally got some sleep in the morning. And we left much later we planned - around 9. We went to Zbirohy, another ruined castle that was build on three rocks. On the way back we couldn't decide what to do and if we should stay or go back to Prague. The main reason for going back was Prince's knee but an uncomfortable night played an important role in his attitude. So we decided to hike a little bit more to another part of Besedické skály. I wish we made our decisions quicker and not second guess them over and over again. This way we could have take a longer but easy hike around Suche Skaly. Well, at least I saw them from the tow. But we have serious problems with making decisions together. Yet another issue of our relationship....
So we went back to Prague, we got home around 4 or 5. I cannot say that we didn't spend a nice two day is Prague. We went for a very nice dinner on Friday (this time Prince didn't even complain that I do not talk, we had a very good conversation). On Saturday I went running, we gamed and in the afternoon we went to have dinner with some friends. They were planning to go to a blues pub for some concert, but we decided to go home. We planned to go back to Cesky Raj the next day - to the castle Kost. So we missed what seemed a very interesting event and the next morning we did not get up :))) We are so lazy.... But we had to get up really early to catch the bus, and we were tired and so on... OK, I'm rationalizing it. In the end we spend most Sunday separately - Prince was working on the game and I went running and them to Vysehrad (I had a nice walk and I spend some time there reading; it was quite nice). We gamed a little bit in the afternoon, that was cool.

So that's our "great" weekend! We thought we are tough and can camp and hike in the rain and so on...but we're not :) I have to admit this. Still, it was a fun weekend and except for two tiny things (hiking longer on Friday and going somewhere on Sunday), I wouldn't change anything.

Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

I'm back at work after 3 days weekend. I feel terrible. I could have slept for 5 more hours. You will ask: what was I doing? Well, I wend to the film festival in Karlovy Vary. It was wonderful.
I left Friday morning with Marysia and her 2 friends, we got to Karlovy Vary around 11, left the bags at the hostel (it wasn't a real hostel, it's just a school where people can sleep during the festival, so it's very basic - just a piece of floor to sleep on, sinks and toilets; not shower!). And we started our great adventure with movie!
First we got out passes that allowed us see 3 movies a day for free, the schedule and all the info, how to reserve the tickets, which is not that easy - there are tones of people and not so many seats in the theaters. So we got tickets for Friday and Saturday and we went for lunch (fried cheese of course, girls came from the country where fried cheeses was not discovered so far) and for a walk. The town is really beautiful, obviously build for the richest to come and relax in the spa. So the buildings are very fancy and the theater is amazing, and the hotels, everything! Even the communist didn't manage to destroy it too much. The town was build by the valley of a river, so on both sides there are hills / mountains. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to explore them, but I hope we can go there some day with Prince and do that.
The walks we managed to do, were between the movies, to get from one cinema to the other :) But in Karlovy Vary, everywhere you go it's beautiful and you can always discover something new and pretty. The first day, we decided that we have some time before the movie starts so we decided to go for a walk. So we walked and walked, and couldn't find the path in the right direction! We almost missed our movie, we got there just 6 minutes before the screening and the rule is that if you won't take your seat up to 5 minutes before, your ticket is given to someone else. Well, we managed it. But I think that Marysia wished later that we didn't. The movie was Japanese thriller. It sound very interesting, about the guy who can enter people's dreams. But both Marysia and me have issues with scary movies. Marysia is even worse than me. And I just don't watch such movies, because I'm too scared. So we went, sat in the first row and hold each other's hand not to be scared. Marysia missed probably half the movie, me around 25% - we were too scared to watch. At the end I wasn't so scared - I was laughing too hard at us. But the movie was good, it's just the way Japanese movies are - very bloody.
So that's what we saw:
1. Venus, a British movie about being old, weird relationship and dying, almost a comedy,
2. Nightmare detective, the Japanese thriller
3. Pingpong, about 16 year old falling in love with his aunt, very German movie
3. Hranice, short movie about a very interesting episode in Czech history, starring actors from a TV show I watch sometimes, proved to be better actors than I expected
4. Marta, there is war and partisans, father and son who finds a wounded women soldier and takes her home, a bit too minimalist
5. Rozpominani a documentary about the Czech society, a series of short interviews with people met on the streets, in pubs, hospital and so on; the questions is: does it captures anything we didn't know yet; it was quite funny
6. Klopka very depressing Serbian movie; how much is life worth; can you kill a man to save a child
7. Bestiář light comedy about a girl and a boy and a few more boys, the only one movie we saw that was not depressing in any way, it wasn't that good either; so maybe a good movie has to be sad and pessimistic....
8. The Letter classic, black and white psychological movie, directed by William Wyler; if only now directors learned from it; there was not action as such but it didn't need to, that's the way to show person's thoughts and motives;
9. Przebacz Polish movie for the end; again depressing but there was a bit of hope, with good hip-hop (sometimes I miss laud hip-hop from behind the wall) behind

Unfortunately, that's all I managed to see. I saw 4 movies on Saturday and it was a little bit too much. I wish I could stay longer, but work.... And I went without Prince and not, we have 4 day weekend so we plan to go to the Czech paradise.
The weekend was great, Marysia - than you for invitation!

Isle of Sky

First part of pics from Scotland is here.

Odleciec

Same roznice, ktore trzeba pokonywac na kazdym kroku. W koncu sie to staje nie do zniesienia. Pozostaje pytanie : czy warto?

One minute blog

1. I'm dying of heat. Prince is dying 'cause he's very sick (I'm starting to worry). Hopefully, he'll get better soon.
2. I'm stressing out - Prince's sister with her husband are comming to Prague, actually they should be already in Prague, probably on their way here.
3. Prince posted on his blog - check it out!

We're back!

So I'm back. It was wonderful. Much better than I expected. Highlands are amazing, Isle of Sky is like heaven. I want to move there!
But now, I'm swamped with work. I had almost 700 emails to read. It's been only 7 working days! Crazy!

So I'll write more and post some pics when I'll finish reading them :) No, I'm already done. But still, I need to catch up with everything else.

Maybe you could convince Prince to write a few words, I'm sure it's much more enjoyable for you to read than my crapy English.

Short post written in a hurry

Ahoj!
I'm sorry for a long break but for some reason life is really crazy recently. I wanted to write about so many great things that we did, for example canoe trip or Prazske Jaro (we saw Wagner's opera made into one concert "Ring without Words" and China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra - traditional Chinese music). Now, we're preparing for our greatest trip of this year - to Scotland. We're leaving tomorrow eary afteroon and I still have a lot to do, so I'll leave you here.
Take care and keep you fingers crossed that we both fall in love with Scotland - it might be our future home.

Owieczka

Wyglada na to, ze mamy nowego czlonka rodziny: owieczke.

Ordinary day

No i jestem z powrotem w Pradze, w domu i z Ksieciuniem.
Caly weekend przespalam - doslownie. W sobote wstalam z lozka ok 16-17tej. Ach, w niedziele bylismy w botaniku, na wystawie bonsai. Super! Jedna z najlepszych - miniaturowa wierzba. Adze Adasiowej by sie spodobalo. W ogole fajny ten botanik.
Biedactwo. Takze pojde chyba do domu, puszcze sobie jakis film i bede czekac na Ksieciunia az wroci z pracy.
I jeszcze slucham nowej plytki Dolore. Jest sliczna.

@ home

I'm finally in Poland in my second home (now it's the second).
I did many things, too many to write about now (it's late at night and I'm waiting to talk to Prince). I have to mention that I went to Krakow. It was a very sentimental trip: I visited all places I loved and hated, places I spend most of my time like the campus, my student house, Blonia, favourite pubs (the ones still existing), ate traditional polish pierogi. Of course I met my best friends: Marta and Gucio. We had to go to see Gucio 'cause he was working late and couldn't come to Krakow so I even had a short trip to mountains. It's a pity more people couldn't come but that's life. I lost many of my friends, well it means they were not really my friends. Still it would be nice to see them. But the trip was great even if only one day. Pics from Krakow.
I also posted some photoes from grill at my cousin's place on Monday here.

And that's all for now. I will try to write more when I get home - Prince got online.
